            Mediation Training               

Oklahoma Requirements:

Under the District Court Mediation Act of 1998, Oklahoma family mediators are required to have 40 hours of approved training in addition to 12 house of actual mediation experience to qualify for court ordered or referred cases. This course meets the educational requirements required by the Mediation Act and 

 is approved for 40 hours of MCLE credit by the Oklahoma Bar Association.

This course explores:

The financial, legal, social, psychological, and procedural dynamics of divorce mediation are explained and then experienced in mock mediations. This training includes an examination of Oklahoma's family law and its impact upon the mediation of domestic subjects such as divorce, property division, custody, visitation, grandparent and elder care issues.

Training Oklahoma Mediators Since 1992:              Since 1992, The Mediation Institute's experienced trainers have conducted over  100 courses attended by thousands of professionals. Graduates include judges  and attorneys, mental health and human resource professionals, as well as educators, students, and administrators.

Typically mediators get referrals from judges, attorneys, mental health professionals, family councilors  or clergy. An increasing number of professionals are learning to mediate and resolve conflict in order to strengthen the relationship and avoid a lengthy and expensive litigation process.

Training provides opportunity to:

• Qualify for inclusion in the list of qualified mediators for court appointed mediation, and distributed to all state court judges by the Oklahoma Academy of Mediators.

• Help litigants avoid the costs and risks associated with a  trial.

• Assist families to reduce stress and protect children from the ravages of a trial.

• Obtain continuing education credits*

• Protect business reputations and assets; develop equitable agreements with clients or employees who feel that they have been physically or professionally injured in some way.

Our classrooms are equipped to make your training experience a comfortable and productive environment. Our classes run on  a 3-4 day schedule with the ability to accrue continuing education credit, and all our classes are approved by the Oklahoma Bar Association for MLCE.
